Luxury Vinyl Types

What are the Different Types of Luxury Vinyl Flooring?

Luxury vinyl has transformed with advancements in flooring technology over the years and is now one of the fastest growing products on the market. There are currently two main types of vinyl available: luxury vinyl planks (LVP) and luxury vinyl tiles (LVP). Additionally, we offer both water-resistant and waterproof vinyl products in both of these categories.

Luxury Vinyl Plank

Vinyl no longer just comes in large, seamless sheets – although we do still offer this traditional style of flooring. Modern luxury vinyl is available in the form of flexible planks, just like real hardwood. They feature a photorealistic image of hardwood near the surface, protected by a wear layer, and then durable sublayers below. Vinyl planks generally look just like natural wood flooring. Their texture is made to match the wood grain patterns in the image, and most homeowners can’t tell the difference between LVP and the real thing.

You’ll find a wide array of vinyl plank styles, from sleek, dark wood and rustic distressed hickory to light, bright natural oak floors. LVP flooring is more affordable, easier to maintain and care for, and better at handling moisture than real hardwood – making it an excellent alternative for anyone that wants a natural wood look without the hassle.

Luxury Vinyl Tile

Like vinyl planks, luxury vinyl tiles come in separate pieces that are installed individually. LVT flooring generally mirrors clay tile or stone, and it can even be grouted for added realism. Vinyl tiles are also textured to match their decorative layer, and you’ll find a beautiful selection of looks when you shop our LVT selection. Luxury vinyl tiles are softer and warmer underfoot than real tile. They also won’t chip as easily, and they’re more affordable and better at absorbing noises like pet claws and footsteps.

Waterproof Luxury Vinyl

At McLeans Flooring Carpet One Floor & Home, we offer LVT and LVP flooring in both water-resistant and fully waterproof options. Waterproof luxury vinyl generally has a rigid core layer that prevents the floor from warping and expanding with moisture and humidity exposure. It also has a water-repellent surface and watertight seams that keep leaks from moving below the floor’s surface. Waterproof vinyl flooring is perfect for active families and pet owners, as well as commercial businesses like restaurants and cafes.
